Social Media management has undergone many changes in the last few years. Going from a “set and forget” attitude to having many companies that are solely focusing on ensuring that your social media channels are moderated properly.
Ever since businesses have realised that engaging with users on Facebook changed the news that showed up on your News Feed. Many users were complaining that they weren’t getting content from their fans, but rather only really seeing content from businesses. In January, Facebook changed the news feed to only really show content from friends.
The way to go make users really engage with your product is by Influencer marketing. This has already been popular for many years, but this will definitely not go away. However, since it is becoming increasingly popular, and businesses have been having backlashes about who they market with (see PewDiePie and more recently, Logan Paul on YouTube).
On the flip side however, Influencers are also able to be more picky. Since so many businesses are engaging with Influencers they are also able to be more selective who they work with. Creating a good relationship with Influencers and making sure they feel like they are being listened to. We recommend to be more thoughtful with who you are going to engage with to make sure they deliver the best Return on Investment (ROI).
Video, video, video… Did we say video?
The trend that started in 2017 is continuing in 2018. Video is becoming increasingly important. By having great video content you will be able to capture your audience and engage better with them. The expectation is that by 2020 around 80% all consumer traffic will be guided by video. To make sure you are ahead of the game, you don’t need an expensive camera, by simply using Facebook Live, Instagram Live or using Snapchat you will be able to impress and engage your users.
Previously, people were saying that it is important to make sure videos relay your message with the sound off. However, more consumers are starting to actually listen to videos. A good slogan is “Design with sound off, delight people with the sound on”.
Messaging and chatbots
As with every other blog post we have created this year, Chatbots are becoming the big thing. Direct Message apps such as Facebook Messenger are becoming more and more reactive. Customers want to be able to talk to you directly and will spending even more time on social media and will most likely prefer to be messaging you. By creating a great chatbot you can engage with the customer right when they need to talk to you, and possibly even sooner!
